La
Serena, Chile
We arrived at La
Serena Monday morning to the sounds of Chilean musicians and dancers
on the dock, and were able to enjoy the show from our private balcony.
After a leisurely breakfast, we took the shuttle from the port at Coquimbo
to La Serena. We discovered that the country was celebrating National
Policement's Recognition Day, and witnessed a ceremony at the police
building and a parade of massive quantities of school kids in colorful
uniforms. After the parade we walked the streets and browsed the shops.
We were unable
to find any t-shirts or thimbles, and came back to the ship empty-handed.
A great part of our afternoon entertainment included the show put on
by a handful of seals who performed calisthenics in the waters next
to the ship. Of course we took way too many pictures!
We enjoyed watching
the farewell show on the dock as we sailed away Monday evening towards
Lima, Peru.
