Getting to Santiago

We left on Saturday at 8:0 am from Dulles. We flew to Toronto, where we stayed for about 6 hours and were the only patrons in the restaurant where we ate. Toronto seems to be really hurting as far as tourists go..

We then flew to New York City, at which point we had been gone for 13 hours and were
300 miles farther from Chile than when we started!

It's obvious the bad economy is really hitting the airline industry.

You can see from all our airport photos that the terminals in DC, Toronto, and NYC were practically deserted.

It was a long, difficult flight and neither of us slept much, so we were very relieved to see the sun rising over Santiago as we descended.
